Exam Procedure

Video Signals Exam  procedure

The exam is a written test with 3 or 4 exercises to be solved in 2 hours. The first exercises require a numerical/procedural solution while the last one requires the definition of a Matlab procedure in order to solve the question: The Matlab code has to be written directly on the paper without any computer aid.

The exam of Video Signals will take place only in a written version; no oral exams, integrations or projects will be considered in order to increase the obtained grade.

In order to pass the whole Audio and Video Signals exam  (for students that are not following just the "Video Signals" 5 crd. exam) a positive grade must be obtained in both modules and the final mark will be the average of the two marks rounded up the next integer.

In evaluating the average between the two modules a 30 cum laude mark in a module will be considered as 30; in order to get 30 cum laude as a final mark, the mark of both modules must be at least 30 and, at least one must be 30 cum laude.

In every exam date the "Audio Signals" module and the "Video Signals" module will take place one after the other  (the sequence will be published in the web poliself) but the exams of both modules will take place in the same day; anyway you can choose to take on a single module or both modules in the same day.

Once you get a positive mark in a module this mark will be automatically frozen until you take again the same module in a following session; taking again the exam on the same module means that you register, participate and turn in your solution; if you simply participate to an exam but do not turn in your solution, this will not change your previous mark and you will be considered as "asbsentee" and your previous mark will be kept.

Once you will get a positive mark in both modules the final mark will be calculated and then published for the publishing period on the web poliself ; at the end of this period it will be automatically recorded. If you do not want to record that final grade since you want to improve one or both modules, you have to refuse it from the poliself: in that case both marks will be restored in a "frozen" state in order to allow you to take on again a module (or both of them). Anyway if you have a frozen mark in both modules at the end of each exam to which you signed in, the final average mark will be automatically published and, after the publishing period, automatically recorded: so, if you want to improve your final mark you have to remember to refuse the published final grade.

On exams registration - Letter from prof. Lozza

English version:

The Educational Board noted, upon request from the  Student Desk Service, that the following requests from the students are increasing:

- Instances from students regarding the request for verbalization of exams taken without registration in the same test, despite repeated emails sent to ALL students, who remember the obligatory nature of enrollment.
- Instances of Teachers regarding the registration request and / or change of already registered vote to the student in previous sessions and now closed.

These requests have influence on delicate and sensitive aspects of the student's career (scholarships, housing, exemptions from taxes, residence permits, passages between different courses, access to Master Degree): a failure to comply with formal rules of registration of the vote may lead to serious consequences for the student himself and others who are in a ranking with him. Therefore, the Educational Board has found it useful and appropriate to clarify the points mentioned above, asking the teachers to disseminate the information that follows.

Concerning the first point it should be noted that it will not be possible anymore to record the vote in the date of an exam to students that are not enrolled to that exam on time. In case of exceptional and documented reasons it will be allowed registration only in a previous exam, forcing a rear registration and with the consent of the teacher, but always under the SAME exam session, i.e. until It has not yet closed the registration window for that session.

Concerning the second point, provided the opportunity for the teacher to correct any errors of the registrations, it is noted that this possibility is also limited in the registration window mentioned above and that in no case will be possible changes in valuations already registered in previous sessions.
